For some time, Nium Portal has been a trusted solution for managing payouts. At first, with batch payouts, users could efficiently process large volumes of transactions by uploading complex, pre-prepared files. While this feature has been ideal for structured, high-volume operations, certain scenarios needed more agility and simplicity—such as handling errors, and making ad-hoc or one-off transactions where creating a batch file is overly complicated.
To address this, we’re proud to introduce In-line Payouts—a significant enhancement to Nium Portal which offers an intuitive and streamlined way to create payouts directly within the portal.
When the devil’s in the details
While batch payouts remain the gold standard for large-scale payment operations, their limitations become a lot more visible when businesses encounter unexpected costs or smaller-scale tasks.
The issue is simply that the needs of a system that handles bulk payments are very different to one that can deliver the ease and simplicity for a one-of transaction. Key benefits include:
-
Error management: Errors in batch files, such as incorrect beneficiary details, often require businesses to recreate and re-upload entire files. This process consumes valuable time and delays transactions.
-
Ad-Hoc transactions: Unexpected, one-off payments—such as emergency vendor payouts or off-cycle reimbursements—are cumbersome to process via traditional methods, such as creating a CSV file for a single payment.
-
Small-scale payouts: Preparing and managing batch files for a handful of transactions can be unnecessarily time-consuming, especially for smaller businesses.
-
Technical barriers: Not every organization has the technical resources or expertise to integrate sophisticated payment solutions for smaller payment volumes.
The power of working in-line
The In-line Payouts feature allows users to create, review, and submit payouts directly within the portal, eliminating the need for managing complex files or coding expertise.
By digging into the details, businesses can resolve issues, issue payments and manage changes in process without any need for redevelopment or back-end updates.
-
Fix issues faster: When errors occur, In-line Payouts can help you make targeted corrections without disrupting the entire payment workflow.
-
Enhanced flexibility for ad-hoc payments: Process last-minute or one-off transactions—such as out-of-cycle employee reimbursements—with minimal friction. No batch files, no delays.
-
Optimized for small volumes: In-line Payouts simplifies the process for transactions, saving time and reducing overhead while maintaining accuracy.
-
No-code accessibility: Designed for usability, the feature empowers all team members—regardless of technical expertise—to handle payouts via a user-friendly interface.
How It Works
- Select New payouts: From the Payouts page, select New payouts and for in-line payouts, select Create payouts.
2. Select a Payout type: Choose Self or On behalf of payment types.
3. Choose Beneficiaries: Select the individuals or companies you want to payout to.
-
Add Payout details: Enter destination amounts, source currencies, and any additional information required for the transaction.
-
Define Sender details: Enter information about the senders of these payouts.
5. Submit for Review and Approval: Confirm the entered details, verify for accuracy, and submit the payout for further processing.
With In-Line Payouts, businesses don’t have to choose between large batch or individual payment capabilities. You can work at scale when you need to and drill down into smaller or single transactions and processes between larger payments runs.
It’s a new form of end-to-end control that can adapt to your needs in a dynamic, efficient way.
Whether managing recurring payments or addressing ad-hoc needs, In-line Payouts equips businesses with the tools to work smarter. By simplifying processes and reducing manual intervention, you can easily manage risk, workflows and payment windows consistently across your organization.
